In Eugenia León’s version, the pain is raw, and the choice to present the song with a string orchestra instead of the traditional (expected?) mariachi accompaniment serves the lyrics beautifully, while her interpretation clearly conveys the main character’s painful state of mind and heart.

In Silvia Basurto and Paolo Uccelli’s beautiful rendition, the pain is real but more dream-like, and the guitar accompaniment provides a lullaby soundscape that makes the intention of the lyrics feel more like a painful but distant memory. While La Boquita performs regularly at Barcelona Tapas, it is a joy to discover these more intimate gems in which they fully commit to the music without distractions intrinsic to performing at a restaurant.
