A VERY SPECIAL TRIBUTE…

It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Joe Guarniere. Known to many as “Pizza Joe,” he and his wife, Claire, are one of the founding blocks of Puerto Vallarta’s English-speaking community, having opened Pizza Joe, a pizza restaurant on Ignacio Vallarta St. in Colonia Emiliano Zapata in 1988. In 1995 they closed their restaurant and opened Galleria Dante, which has grown to become one of Puerto Vallarta’s most important art galleries. In 2013, their daughter Gena developed and opened Di Vino Dante, a wine and tapas bar, above the art gallery, with the loving support of her parents.

A beloved father and husband, and a friend to many artists and members of our community, Joe will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Claire and Gena.
