We continue with our music appreciation lectures with this overview of the musical, sometimes known as ‘the art of throwing the house out the window.’
We’ll start with an overview of the evolution of theater and film through time and their influence on the birth of musicals. Then we will dive into the collaborative process of creating musical theater. We will then unpack the process of producing a musical for the stage and will take a look at how the musical is evolving in the new millenium, whether it is intended for stage, cinema or television.
Throughout the evening we will enjoy video selections of popular musicals to connect with the information provided.
