On a day like today, but in 1911, Emiliano Zapata took up arms in Villa de Ayala, Morelos. His protest against the land theft perpetrated by the Porfirian followers from the peasants was later reflected in the Plan of Ayala manifesto. The plan called for the expropriation of lands taken by wealthy landowners and their redistribution to peasants and Indigenous communities.
