A new $200 MXN bill will begin circulating this week, according to the Bank of Mexico. The bill commemorates both the bicentenary of Mexico’s independence and the centenary of the beginning of Mexico’s revolution. The bill is made of cotton paper, measures 141 x 66 mm. and is designed vertically. The front of the bill features Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, who was a Mexican Roman Catholic priest and a leader of the Mexican War of Independence. The back features the Ángel de la Independencia an iconic statue located in Mexico City’s Paseo de la Reforma.
