So much attention is being placed these days on the influenza virus that is causing havoc in our economy… And it’s no surprise. We’re all trying to make sense of what’s going on and how it will affect our economy. For better or worse, my Vallarta Lifestyles Managing Editor alter ego (let’s call him ME!) is responsible for tallying up the results submitted for VirtualVallarta.com’s Readers’ Choice Poll. Every morning, ME gets to work, checks his email, and soon after that, he reviews the votes received for the previous day, looking for trends and for votes that the polling system may have flagged as “suspicious.”
Sometime ago, ME started noticing a new breed of super-restaurants popping up. Here he was thinking he had a few favorites. Well guess what? There are a bunch of new restaurants in town that claim they can truly do it all! For example, there is a new restaurant in ME’s colonia that is getting votes for best gourmet, best moderately priced, and best economic restaurant on the same ballot! Maybe they have Sumptuous Sundays and Weak-Wallet Wednesdays. This same multi-budgeted eatery is equally at ease serving the best seafood, pizza, sushi and Italian food. Did I mention wine? Oh, and they cater!
Mystified, ME wondered if he has been working and/or staying home too much. How could someone who enjoys food as much as ME does have overlooked such a pleasure paradise, only a few blocks away from his apartment? And just as this restaurant, again, there is a handful of super-restaurants out there, just waiting to be discovered!
I decided to walk past this super-restaurant and I quickly put A and B together. Puerto Vallarta is not actually developing a new breed of super-restaurants. The restaurants are developing a severe case of multiple personality disorder, and this multiple personality disorder is spreading among them! How freaky is that?!?
Would you date a lawyer-dentist-soccer-player-plumber-flight-attendant, even if the idea sounds kinda kinky? Ew!
Is there really such a thing as a budget-priced gourmet restaurant with a romantic ambiance and an incomparable sunset view that also moonlights as a sports bar? According to a recent Readers’ Choice ballot received by ME, there is. I mean, can you imagine beer-guzzling jocks holding hands and whispering sweet nothings in each others’ ears as their favorite team scores on the giant flat screens, all framed by a spectacular Puerto Vallarta sunset?
Give me a break.
You have until June 15 to vote in this year’s VirtualVallarta.com’s Readers’ Choice Poll. But if you do vote, please vote responsibly. And don’t forget to wear surgical gloves as you click on your favorites, just in case! And if you MUST vote for a place that excels at Mexican, Italian, expensive, inexpensive, Asian, etc., perhaps you should vote for Wal-Mart.
